The door to the players’ entrance to the Yankee Stadium home clubhouse opens to a hallway in front of a giant navy blue wall. It is the coolest thing I’ve seen at the new Yankee Stadium, because it’s covered in signatures,
Cheap The Hundreds Hats, all in silver pen. The only people who have signed it are former Yankees players and coaches.
There is a giant interlocking NY in the middle of the wall, and only Hall of Famers are permitted to sign within it. As the beat writers walked in Wednesday for our pregame session in Joe Girardi’s office, someone was leaning in, putting that silver Sharpie to the wall. I paused to see who it was: Wade Boggs.
Boggs, who rode a police horse to celebrate the Yankees’ 1996 championship, joined Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Dave Winfield, Reggie Jackson and Goose Gossage within the N.Y. “Only Hall of Famers,” I said, and Boggs looked over and smiled.
Girardi, naturally, was in a terrific mood. He said he hoped the principal owner, George Steinbrenner, would also stop by before the game. If not,
New Era MLB Hats, Girardi said, he hoped to speak with Steinbrenner, who has not attended a home game since opening day.
“I’m thrilled,
More Brand Hats,” said Girardi, who is also excited to have his family at Game 1. His daughter Serena was an infant in Girardi’s last World Series, 1999, and his son Dante was not born. On the field after clinching the pennant Sunday night, Serena frolicked on crutches (she broke her foot at recess recently), while Dante played ball with the sons of Mariano Rivera and C.C. Sabathia.
“He absolutely loves going to the field,” Girardi said of Dante, 7, who is named for Girardi’s former Colorado Rockies teammate Dante Bichette. “He thinks it’s the perfect backyard. So now when he throws on the mound in Little League, he’ll go, ‘Dad, there are big holes.’ Well, you’re not on the field at Yankee Stadium.”
Girardi said it finally hit him on Tuesday, driving to the stadium for workout day, that he would be managing in his first World Series.
“Wow, I’m blessed,” Girardi said he thought to himself. “Because you think about it, as a little kid, you dream about going to the World Series, and I was fortunate enough to play in three of them, and now I get to manage one. It’s unbelievable.”
As for on-field issues,
Texas Rangers Hats, Girardi said it was an “easy choice” to add Eric Hinske, an experienced pinch-hitter, to the roster. Girardi said he added reliever Brian Bruney because there may be more pitching changes in National League parks because there is no designated hitter. (Freddy Guzman and Francisco Cervelli are off the roster.)
Girardi also sounded as if he would continue using Jose Molina to catch A.J. Burnett. “I’ve said all along it’s worked well,” Girardi said. “Depending on what we do, I’m still confident using Molina and, if I have to, pinch-hitting Jorgie.”
Girardi said “there’s no rush” to determine who will start Game 4, but Chad Gaudin, the possible starter who threw a simulated game on Tuesday, is not available in relief for Game 1. Without Gaudin, Alfredo Aceves is the primary long reliever.
Girardi also said that he did not expect to use Hideki Matsui in the outfield in Philadelphia, but he could not rule it out because “you can’t predict what’s going to happen in the game.”

good to see Joe G. enjoying himself a little before the onslaught of criticism he’s going to take for whatever crazy moves he makes in the series. He’s a great guy,
Chicago Cubs Hats, a great yankee,
Colorado Rockies Hats sale, but there’s an excellent article on Slate.com that analyzes his over-managing so far in the post season, and that, although only in a quick sentence, finally calls out AJ Burnett for the ordinary pitcher he is. Burnett as everyone tells us,
cheap Chicago Cubs Hats, has great stuff. so do thousands of young prospects who never make it in the bigs. but burnett is not now and never has been a great pitcher. he or his agent must be a heck of a con man to have gotten two big contracts out of his mediocre career numbers.

My favorite thing about this story is that it is set against the backdrop of a Yankees team which is about to suffer a humiliating, and I mean crushing, defeat in Game 1 of the World Series.

#3 – No one will remember the game 1 loss if and when they come back to win the series.
