Default Clash Over Stadium Financing Continues

The Yankees complied partially on Friday with a subpoena from two state Assembly committees to provide documents about the tax-exempt financing and ticket prices at the new stadium. But the main event at a public hearing was not the documents they did or did not submit on a computer disk but on the continued animosity between Randy Levine, the team president, and Assemblyman
Richard L. Brodsky, a Westchester Democrat.
“Your behavior in this matter continues to be disgraceful,” Levine told Brodsky, who has been a persistent critic of the way in which the Yankees secured their financing.
When Brodsky interrupted, Levine said loudly, “You invited me to speak,St Louis Cardinals Hats, let me speak my mind!” When Brodsky cautioned that he was only to speak in response to the subpoena, Levine said, “That’s not what you said!” But Brodsky relented, letting Levine question the subpoena and call the assemblyman’s campaign a “witch hunt” against the Yankees. “I guess it’s spring training and you can’t just sit in the stands,” Levine said.
Brodsky chided the Yankees for not delivering all the records he wanted, and chastised Levine for outbursts that did not constitute “appropriate public behavior.”
At the end of the hearing,Seattle Mariners Hats, Levine predicted sarcastically that Brodsky would hold his next hearing on April 16 — opening day for the $1.5-billion stadium.

Bravo Brodsky.
Finally someone has the guts to stand-up to the Yankees and their bullying tactics.
With the bottom falling out of the economy now is not the time for public funding of private stadiums.
It used to be “The House that Ruth Built,” now its the “Palace that Greed Built.”

While I do not 100% agree with public funding of stadiums I can understand the concept from a standpoint of the public gain in ticket sales and add-ons from each and every home game especially from a winning team.
What I do not agree with is outrageous ticket prices which the average schmuck cannot afford. I will not pay $50 to sit in the bleachers.

Brodsky should take up Levine’s suggestion for the April 16 hearing date and should require all Yankee brass to be present in Albany that day.
What bothers some is not so much the tax-exempt financing,Red Bull Hats Sale, which it is a racket anyway,Cheap NBA Hats, but the way the Yankees were allowed to destroy those South Bronx neighborhood parks and playing fields without adequate replacement. For that,Cheap Famous Hats, not only the Yankees,Baseball Hats, but also Bloomberg, the Bronx Borough President, really just about all elected officials caved on the issue, and for that matter, The New York Times also ignored what was going on until it was too late to do anyting about it.
Should we now say, better late than never, or too little, too late. The latter, I think.

Having watched the boondoggle Cleveland built for the Indians and Cavs and will still be paying into 2023, if you look closely at the Yankee stadium costs you will find obscene costs for all kinds of luxury for the ballplayers, the owner and the wealthy who can afford the ticket and luxury loge prices.
Please, someone find out all the costs the public helped pay for that make the stadium facilities more luxurious than any Roman emperor ever enjoyed.
Just check the cost of the food venues – bars,Cheap Scarves, restaurants, etc. – built into the “stadium” and you will be shocked.
Taxpayers have subsidies dozens of private-profit businesses and called it a stadium.

Typical Yankee arrogance and conceit from the field to the front office.

Bill Clinton promised to ” end welfare as we know it”. I guess we did in a reverse Robin Hood fashion. We took welfare from widows ,Pittsburgh Pirates Hats, single mothers and dependent children and gave it to baseball millionaire tycoons. The Yankees will be playing in the house that welfare built. Better we should give help to those that need it.
Do not be surprised if there is a curse on the house that welfare built.
