The Opportunity
Work in a team environment to enable database developers to maximize the usefulness of our products, including SQL Server,
microsoft Office 2010 License, Visual Basic, Visual C++, VBScript, Visual C#.NET and Visual Basic .NET. Our product support teams are structured by product category, so that every customer has access to highly focused assistance and expertise.
Those who work in the Developer Support organization are passionate about technology and helping others. They must be highly observant and skilled in detection in order to resolve issues. This requires empathy, outstanding logic skills, the ability to think differently than the crowd, and a genuine desire to help people do their best.
Product support offers many opportunities for specialization and advancement, and support engineers receive world-class training in order to stay on top of emerging technologies. Team members have the freedom to pursue the types of products that interest them most or pursue training in new products at any time to expand their skills and advance their careers.
Skill Profiles Needed
Two different profiles fit equally well into our team oriented environment. Apply for this position if you are either;
DBA Profile
Very strong Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) knowledge and experience (ORACLE, DB2, SQL, Sybase, MySQL), or strong knowledge of Microsoft® SQL Server ® 2000 and Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional
Programming knowledge/experience is not required, but is helpful for long term success as this role will require you to develop debugging skills at the source code level. Of course, you will have the support of Microsoft in growing those skills!
Programmer Profile
Excellent knowledge and demonstrated experience in any of the following languages:
Visual Basic .NET
C# .NET
C /C++
Visual Basic 6.0
Knowledge and experience with VB Script as used in ASP programming
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft database access technologies such as ADO, RDO, DAO, RDS, ADO.NET, ODBC and OLEDB
Strong Relational DataBase Management System (RDBMS) knowledge and experience. (ORACLE, DB2, SQL,
Microsoft Office 2007 Pro Plus, Sybase, MySQL)
Knowledge of Microsoft® SQL Server versions 2000.
Required Skills Common to Both Profiles

Ability to work well in a team environment
Effective learning skills (self-study and in a class room environment)
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Roles and Responsibilities
· Analyze problems and develop solutions for a broad range of customers from small development shops and independent software vendors to Fortune 500 companies; may involve writing code
· Communicate with corporate customers through a number of channels including telephone, email, public and private newsgroups, and the Internet.
· Participate in daily triage meetings to share knowledge with other engineers and develop efficient customer solutions.
· Learn prerelease products in area(s) of support responsibility in order to support them when released.
· Identify and report both software bugs and customer suggestions.
· Learn entire product or product family supported and continually improve personal knowledge and skills.
Education/Experience
The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in C.S. or Masters Degree in C.S.,
Office 2010, or the equivalent in work experience combined with some product support experience. One year of experience in software development is preferred. Experience with client-server, multi-tier, or Internet application architecture and development as well as prior customer service experience is a plus.
