You’ve got 54 hours to launch your idea at Startup Weekend….so needless to say, talk is cheap. People pitch their ideas and break off into teams to build it from the ground up….a working concept,
Windows 7 Home Basic 64, a business plan,
Office 2010 Key, etc. At the end of the weekend, teams present their ideas to a panel of judges!!
This is my first Startup Weekend, held in KC @ Think Big Parnters‘ BizPerc space.
I was initially there just to hang out…but Tim Barnes from OpenMethods pitched an idea that I really liked. Have you ever been in the process of traveling, and had to join a conference call? How hard is it to go into your email, find the right pin & dial in #? Have you simply forgotten about a conference call that you were SUPPOSED to join? Yep, we’ve all been there.
Tim’s idea is to create a solution in which you accept a standard meeting request, but that’s all the work that needs to be done on your part. At the specified meeting time,
Chemical inventory software, Lab equipment calibration and management applicatio, a service will call your phone and join you to the meeting. If the primary phone # listed cannot be reached, attempts will be made to reach you at other methods you’ve listed (desk phone,
Cheap Office Professional 2010, home phone, etc).
So that’s the basic idea in a nutshell. We’ve come up with the name “Call Me Meeting” (site is being developed as we speak). There are some great opportunities for generating revenue (ads,
Microsoft Office 2010 Serial, premium features, and so on)…but we’ll share those as this idea develops. I’ll be blogging more this weekend, so make sure to keep up with our updates as we go along.
Time to get back to work!! You could also follow CallMeMeeting on twitter!
