Golden Judy picks up Euro duathlon title
A NOVICE duathlete from Jersey has won a European Duathlon Championship heading in Italy.
Judy Paul (51) was competing in her {first|at first,0} international encounter.
She strike,0 German Ria Jotter, who won silver at the world championships,kso discount, to take the European title for 50-to-54-year-olds in Rimini.
The three stage event saw antagonists run 11k,Air Max 90 Shoes, wheel 40k and run a further 5k.
Paul finished in 2 hr 27 min to beat Jotter by 5 minutes.
Paul, amazingly, merely took up the duathlon in January.
But she has been exercising 6 days a week since and now has her eyes on the next world championships in Hungary in May.
She said: ‘I did no believe I had won until they said it over the loud spokesman.
It proves you are never too antique.
People I understand were gobsmacked.
I am not a normal athlete.
I’m just stubborn and resolved.
‘But you don’t do everything aboard your own.
I absence to thank all the human who assisted me.’ Paul finished 15th overall out of 70 competitors and was fourth overall on the bike afterward one famous extravaganza.

Paul represented Jersey by cycling in the 1997 Island Games, which were staged here.
