MBT stands for “Masai Barefoot Technology.” Their innovative design includes a multi-layered, curved sole which makes for a unique and rewarding walking experience. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The shank, PU midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. Wearing MBTs significantly improves Puma Shoes your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you’re walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. Wearing MBT shoes can also be a therapeutic tool for back, hip, leg and foot problems. At MBT they don’t believe in shoes. They believe in footwear that makes you better from the ground up. By Tara Tickel I have plantar fasciitis..I received these shoes as a gift from my mother after a grocery shopping excursion that left me in tears wearing my (then beloved) Ascics running shoes. Before I started wearing these “anti-shoes” I would spend a vast majority of my day in severe pain and the rest just trying to avoid walking altogether (as a mother of 5 – yes 5 – kids that’s not an easy feat!). When I started wearing these wonderful shoes I was almost immediately able to resume normal activity with little to no pain whatsoever. The only time I have pain now is when I go barefoot at home all day or if I MUST wear other shoes for a dressier occasion. They aren’t very pretty discount puma shoes (in fact I find them quite unattractive), but the comfort of these shoes far outweighs the unappealing exterior. As an experiment, I went 2 days without my MBTs, wearing my Merrils instead, and VERY MUCH regretted it! They ARE quite expensive (and I freely admit that I would NEVER have gotten past the price if my mother hadn’t surprised me with them), but I fully intend to buy a couple (dressier) pairs in the future. I can tell you that if you have chronic foot pain, these shoes will be your relief! 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. These shoes changed my life! By Mary Predmore The moment I put these shoes on, they changed my life! No more back pain and foot pain. The balance is different but I got used to it immediately. Improved posture and mobility right in the store after terrible foot pain for years. The price is hefty but worth every penny. I found out later that some people buy these for fitness reasons but, for me, that is just a bonus but NOT the reason I purchased them! I tried to go easy at first to get used to them as recommended but found I didn’t need to or want to because of the foot relief I was feeling. I have had them for almost two months and still love them. I think they will last a long time so are a good investment. I can’t wait to get a 2nd pair so I can alternate them but my budget is dead after the first pair. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. MBT”S are worth the money By Joan C. Kirby This is my third World's leading retailer of ladies designer MBT Katika ... - Bigg News pair of MBT’s. I bought these at the recommendation of several neruospinal surgeons I worked with. I spend as much as 12 hours a day on my feet, many of them standing stationary. My back was killing me, these shoes helped stop that. I also had a co-worker with a knee problem from an old injury, she bought a pair and no longer needed cortisone injections to be able to work. I tried the sketchers “shape ups” and they didn’t compare. Of course the reason I bought these shoes was not for the “shape up” capabilities although those were also present. The reason I’m giving these shoes 4 out of 5 is unlike my last pair this style is made for someone with wider feet and don’t fit as well as my last pair. Also be aware to order a 1/2 size up from your usual size. I also made the mistake and ordered a pair on e-bay and they were a China knock off. At least here at amazon you get what you pay for.
