Set Date Picker's Default Value to today's date

I've searched the FAQ and forum high and low for a solution to this question and have come up empty handed.
 
I would like my form to automatically populate the Javascript Date Picker field with the current date upon page/form loading. I have not been able to find a way to set the default value to do this, but it seems as though it should be possible.
