Looking Back And Looking Ahead
With the New Year approaching,asics running, it's a great opportunity to take some time to reflect on the performance of your practice in 2010. What were some of your major victories? What didn't go as well as you hoped? Take some time and evaluate the past year. Now, what about 2011? How will you maintain your success? What needs to happen in order to improve performance? Below are some suggestions to help you as you look back over 2010 and plan for a successful 2011:
1) Don't speculate— look at the data. If you want the time you spend reflecting to mean anything, you need to dig into the numbers— how did your practice perform? Did your bottom line trend upward or downward? Are your expenses reasonable, or are you spending too much money in certain areas? For an accurate picture, compare your performance in 2010 with several previous years. When it comes right down to it, every practice has key numbers that directly impact the practice. What are yours? Roll up your sleeves and take a look.
2) Identify specific areas to improve. Every practice has room for improvement. Maybe you need to upgrade the patient service skills of your office. Maybe you need to reduce your expenditures on supplies. Or maybe you're failing to collect a high enough percentage of your accounts receivable. Once you've identified several areas that need improvement,mbt changa, set measurable goals. For instance, aim to reduce your office expenses by 10%. Develop a plan to achieve this goal,ferragamo footwear, and set a system in place that will remind you to follow up on this goal throughout the coming year (i. e. designate one day each month to review your progress). By setting specific, measurable goals and following up on your performance, you'll stand a great chance to increase your profitability in 2011.
3) Get another opinion. Seeking insight and advice from an unbiased source is always a good idea. Whether it's a savvy colleague, recommended service provider or a hired consultant,womens asics, you may be amazed at the insight that you'll gain from a fresh pair of eyes. Find somebody that you trust and ask them to spend some time reviewing the areas you want to improve. Ask them for ideas to solve challenges that have you stumped. There may be an obvious solution that you just haven't thought of.
4) Build on your successes. Often, reviewing past performance and setting goals for the future can become negatively focused. Don't fall into this trap— make sure you spend ample time reviewing what went well for you in 2010. Are there specific employees that are doing a great job? Are you doing a great job of connecting with your patients? Identify several successes and reflect on them. What caused you to perform well in these areas? Can you take the same approach in other areas that aren't going as well? What will you do in 2011 to ensure that this success continues?
While reflection and planning require some time out of your busy schedule, they are critical to the health of your practice. The dawning of a New Year is a perfect opportunity to review past performance and plan for future success— so take advantage of the opportunity. This time next year, you'll be glad that you did!
