THE International Herald Tribune's sixth annual fashion and luxury conference will take place at the Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul from December 6-8 this year. Chaired as usual by the paper's fashion director Suzy Menkes, as well as Cartier International president Bernard Fornas, it comes five years after the inaugural event in Paris and one year after the IHT signed an agreement with the Dogan Media Group to be the first and only English language daily newspaper printed in Istanbul and available to buy early in the morning throughout Turkey. "On the cusp of Europe and Asia, Istanbul offers a magical venue and a soaring opportunity for the luxury world,Asics Gel Shoes," Suzy Menkes said yesterday. "True to its historic roots as a crossroads of cultures and a city that founded the concept of the market in the former Ottoman empire, Turkey is both a major supplier and consumer of upscale goods. The sixth IHT Luxury Conference will look at all aspects - from fashion, design and textiles to finance - with an unparalleled overview of the Levantine region." Michael Golden, publisher of the IHT, added: "The Tribune is famously a step ahead in following both the creative and the business developments of the fashion and luxury industry.
