Allegiances will not necessarily be made or broken depending on the jersey that you don, but it will spark up a conversation, because undoubtedly there is a sports match of some sort coming up, just passed, or a controversial historical match that can always be discussed. A woman becomes noticed for wearing her jersey out to a bar, becomes approached if it's a good team, and becomes prime-dating material if she can even hold a discussion about the team belonging with that jersey. In South Africa, sports jerseys are attractive. The vendors were proud to let me photograph their selection of jerseys, wanting to discuss with me whatÂ* teams they were, even if I wasn't going to buy one. They were just proud of their jerseys.
